We would like to introduce you to a small poverty-stricken community in Nicaragua. The name of the community is "15 de Septiembre" (15th of September), taken from the date of its founding. It is near San Benito Nicaragua. We have served here several times in the past in our food and bible distributions. The entire community lives in poverty, many of the homes displaying walls of plastic tarps. There are 280 families living in this community (see map).
Prior to 2011, there was NO running water to serve this community! Only one hand pump well existed and could not meet the needs of the people. By the grace of God, gracious contributors, and some dedicated volunteers, Kosmos installed a 220 foot well with a motorize pump in the fall of 2011! Phase 1 is complete - Fresh water has been brought to the people!
Phase 2 involves the installation of an above ground tank, with an estimated cost of $15,000. Phase 3 includes running pipe to each of the 280 homes, which a similar cost with phase 2.
There are approximately 280 homes (parcels), divided into 14 sections. We are looking for donors and sponsors who are willing to sponsor sections or parcels. A single home sponsorship is only $110. You can sponsor as many homes and families as God prompts you too! This is a chance to make a direct impact on the quality of life for a poverty stricken family with no running water.
For every home sponsorship, Kosmos will obtain the names of the family members and their location on the map, so you can pray and be connected with them!
This project will not be completed without God's grace and donor support, so we always ask that you prayerfully consider donating to Kosmos. Donations of all sizes are accepted. You can even donate online by clicking here! All contributions are tax deductible.
